PETG-CF Filament (RFID) - 1kg

Snapmaker PETG-CF

Various tools and accessories displayed on a grassy field.
Note displayed on a blank background.

PETG-CF contains chopped carbon fibers. Do not use hot ends smaller than 0.4 mm, because they may cause clogging. As carbon fiber is abrasive, use Hardened Steel Hot Ends (sold separately) and load filament manually to prevent wear on the automatic filament feeder.

A blank note-taking interface with the word

Higher Stiffness, Superior Strength

Carbon fiber reinforcement makes PETG-CF printed parts stiffer, stronger, and more resistant to bending—ideal for load-bearing parts and engineering fixtures.

Strength comparison of bending strength for PETG HF and PETG-CF materials.

Reliable Heat Resistance for Outdoor Use

With a heat deflection temperature of 72.3°C, PETG-CF better resists deformation in high-temperature environments, making it ideal for outdoor applications.

Carbon Fiber Texture & Distinctive Sheen

PETG-CF features a carbon fiber texture that helps conceal layer lines, while its distinctive sheen gives printed parts a refined finish.

Built for Dimensional Stability

Carbon fiber reinforcement helps control shrinkage and warping, enabling PETG-CF to maintain dimensional accuracy and deliver consistent results—even when printing large-format parts.

Versatile Colors for Functional Builds

A curated selection of versatile colors, offering flexible options to match different functional models.

RFID Recognition[1]

When used with the Snapmaker U1, the printer automatically loads preset filament information so you don’t need to adjust settings manually, making printing easier than ever.

Recycled Spool & Packaging

Both the spool and packing box are made from recycled materials, reducing the use of virgin materials.

Printing Tips

Drying & Storage

• Pre-Drying: PETG-CF has moderate moisture sensitivity, so drying before use is optional. However, pre-drying is recommended for optimal print results. The recommended setting is 65°C for 8 hours.
• Storage: When not in use, keep the filament away from direct sunlight in a sealed container with desiccant.

Printing

• Use Manual Loading: PETG-CF is an abrasive filament that may accelerate wear on the printer’s automatic filament feeder. To protect the feeder and extend its service life, do not use the automatic feeding function. Always load and unload the filament manually. (Note: Since the RFID readers are located near the spool holders on both sides of the printer, RFID detection is unavailable during manual filament loading unless the spool is placed on a holder.)
• Use Hardened Steel Hot Ends: The carbon fibers are abrasive. Replace the U1’s standard stainless steel hot ends with hardened steel ones (sold separately) to minimize nozzle wear.
• Hot End Size: Do not use hot ends smaller than 0.4 mm, as they may cause clogging.
• Improving Layer Adhesion: If layer adhesion is insufficient, try reducing the print speed or cooling fan speed, or slightly increasing the nozzle temperature.
• Carbon Fiber Debris Precautions: Carbon fibers may give the filament and printed parts a slightly prickly feel. Direct contact with rough or damaged surfaces and cross-sections during cutting or sanding may cause skin irritation. Do not rub or touch rough edges or fractured surfaces with bare hands. Always wear protective gloves when loading or unloading the filament and during post-processing.

Frequently Asked Questions

1. Compability

Snapmaker U1: Optimized profiles built into Snapmaker Orca.
Other printers: Compatible with most FDM 3D printers. Manual parameter tuning may be required.

2. What is PETG-CF and how is it different from standard PETG?

PETG-CF is a PETG-based engineering filament reinforced with 5% recycled chopped carbon fiber. Compared with standard PETG, it offers higher rigidity, better dimensional stability, a carbon fiber texture with a distinctive sheen, and improved heat resistance.

3. What is PETG-CF suitable for?

PETG-CF is ideal for functional parts that require high rigidity, dimensional stability, moderate heat resistance, or an industrial-style appearance, such as tool fixtures, structural brackets, equipment housings, drone components, organizers, filament holders, and other functional accessories.

4. Does PETG-CF require an enclosure or Top Cover?

No. PETG-CF does not require an enclosure or Top Cover for normal printing.
Maintaining a stable printing environment can still help improve print consistency, especially when printing larger or more complex models.

5. Do I need a hardened steel hot end for PETG-CF?

Yes. PETG-CF contains abrasive chopped carbon fibers that can accelerate wear on standard stainless steel nozzles.
We recommend using a hardened steel hot end with PETG-CF. Do not use nozzles smaller than 0.4 mm, as carbon fibers may increase the risk of clogging.
The hardened steel hot end is sold separately.

6. Can I use the automatic filament feeder with PETG-CF on the Snapmaker U1?

No. PETG-CF is abrasive and should not be used with the Snapmaker U1's automatic filament feeder, as it may accelerate wear on the feeding mechanism.
Please load and unload PETG-CF manually. Do not use the automatic feeding function.
Note: When loading PETG-CF manually, RFID detection is unavailable unless the spool is placed on a spool holder equipped with an RFID reader.

7. Does PETG-CF have good dimensional stability?

Yes. PETG-CF has relatively low shrinkage and warping compared with many engineering filaments. The carbon fiber reinforcement further helps maintain dimensional stability, making it suitable for large functional parts and precision-fit components.

8. What print settings are recommended for PETG-CF?

For optimal printing results, we recommend the following settings:
• Nozzle Temperature: 240–270°C
• Bed Temperature: 60–85°C
• Print Speed: <200 mm/s
• Cooling Fan: Off
• Recommended Nozzle Diameter: 0.4 / 0.6 / 0.8 mm
• Drying Before Printing: 65°C for 8 hours

The recommended settings are based on a 0.4 mm nozzle. Actual settings may vary depending on the printer, nozzle diameter, model geometry, and printing conditions.

9. Does PETG-CF need to be dried before printing?

PETG-CF has moderate moisture sensitivity. While pre-drying is not always necessary, we recommend drying the filament before printing, especially if it has been exposed to ambient humidity for an extended period. The recommended drying condition is 65°C for 8 hours. Proper drying can help reduce issues such as stringing, bubbles, poor surface quality, and inconsistent extrusion.

10. How should PETG-CF be stored?

Store PETG-CF in a sealed bag or container with desiccant, keep it dry, and avoid direct sunlight.
For best printing results, minimize the time the filament is exposed to ambient humidity.

11. Does PETG-CF require special handling?

Yes. The chopped carbon fibers are abrasive and may give the filament or printed parts a slightly rough or prickly feel.
Wear appropriate protective gloves when handling the filament or performing post-processing, especially when dealing with rough edges or fractured surfaces.
